They always listen to their bodies
Our body knows better what we really need. Our ‘cheating’ mind and gut, however, are very often spoiling our connection with the body and then we end up overeating, or not eating the right things, not moving enough, or not sleeping enough. Try to listen more to what your body has to say to you and less to what your mind or gut wants you to do.
They are consistent, not perfect in their eating habits
The key to a healthy, happy and balanced life is to make being healthy a habit. Eating healthy is not a diet, it is a way of living. Dieting means temporality and irregularity. It also means following restrictions and trying to be perfect. Eating healthy, however, is the exact opposite. It means permanency and consistency, yet no extreme restrictions are involved and there is no need of being perfect.
In fact, teaching your body to be healthy by being consistent, not perfect, stays in the essence of the healthy life. It is true that if we manage to stay away from sugar for an extended period, our bodies won’t crave it as much. Yet, indulging into a piece of cheesecake or a fudge muffin every now and then is not only perfectly fine, but also even healthy for your state of mind. It makes you realize that you are not dieting and that the world is not going to be over if you eat a little something that is not particularly healthy. Moderation within consistency is the other significant key to maintaining a healthy, happy lifestyle.
They love themselves
Beauty is when you are able to appreciate yourself regardless your flaws. When you truly love yourself, that’s when you are most beautiful and glowing. Think of your flaws as just little pieces of you that create the essence of who you really are. Simply love yourself for who you are and accept, and salute every single flaw that you have.
They work out regularly
Working out is happiness. Find something that you like doing that is physical and do it, frequently and consistently. It could be yoga, HIIT sessions, jogging, cross-fit. It doesn’t really matter what it is as long as it makes you feel light and energised.
A piece of advice: exercise not to lose weight, or sweat, or feel sexy, but to become happier and more balanced. Learn how to enjoy exercising for the sake of your new healthier and more joyful self, rather than for the sake of your skinnier body.
They find time to relax
We are living in busy times when everybody is working too much and relaxing too little. Finding time to relax, spend some time with the people you love and do the things that you like doing is essential for your inner peace and sense of happiness.
They follow the clean mind, clean thoughts, clean speech rule
Clean mind, clean thoughts, clean speech is a little mantra that happy people follow. Give it a try! Let go of all the negative thought that run through your mind and cost you anxiety, concerns or even depression. Ignore all the negative people in your life that ruin your inner peace. And last but not least, keep your speech clean of gossip or profanity. This simple rule will really change your life.
They get their beauty sleep dose
Getting enough sleep is fundamental. 7 to 8 hours per night would be the ideal option and would really make a difference.
They meditate regularly
Introduce at least five minutes of meditation into your daily routine. Eventually you will be able to build your practice up to fifteen-twenty minutes a day or more. But even just a few minutes will open the door to creating a new healthy habit and all the proven powerful benefits it brings. Here are some of them:
Better overall health
Knowledge of self
Relief from stress and anxiety
Decreased blood pressure and hypertension
Lower cholesterol levels
More efficient oxygen use by the body
Increased production of the anti-aging hormone DHEA
They reconnect with nature regularly
The more high-tech our lives become, the more nature we need.
Nature is a potent universal cure and source of happiness. It is proven that nature is a powerful booster for human’s overall health and wellbeing. Here are a few reasons why you should reconnect with nature more often:
1. The contact with nature makes us happier
2. Nature gives us energy
3. Nature brings our senses alive
4. Nature is a stress controller
5. Nature boosts our creativity
6. Nature heals
7. Nature boosts our immune system
So go for a walk at the park or take an out-of-town trip to the mountains, the woods, the fields or anywhere your soul wishes. Only a few hours of contemplating and communicating with nature will be enough to recharge you for weeks.
They let go of the toxic friend and friendships
To be surrounded by positive, creative people in whose company one feels happy, joyful, cherished and loved is one of the biggest priorities of happy people. So be brave and let go of all the toxic people in your life. Bad friendships or ex-friendships can be as annoying as bad relationships and ex-relationships. None of them is worth fighting for or having second thoughts about. When it’s over, it’s over. Juts let it go.
