PUMPKIN: THE ORANGE GOLD.

They call it the orange gold. It is one of the most powerful nutrient-dense foods, packed with essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. It also has a rich, distinctive flavor and inspires creative recipes and Halloween decorations. This week’s hero here on 2 Health Blog is the pumpkin.

 

Pumpkin is one of the best-known sources of beta-carotene, alongside carrots, oranges, yellow and orange peppers. Beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant that the body converts to vitamin A once it is eaten. Consuming pumpkin reduces the risk of developing colon and prostate cancer, offers protection against asthma and heart diseases, balances the blood pressure, boosts the immune system, promotes fertility and delays aging and body degeneration. Well, after having all these health benefits in mind, it won’t be hard to convince you to start consuming more pumpkin.

 

Fortunately, it’s the pumpkin season, and we suggest you celebrate it with two of 2 Health App’s most delicious pumpkin juice recipes:

 

Pumpkin Magic

1 large slice of pumpkin, peeled and cut (around 200-300 gr)

2 small oranges, peeled

1 lemon, peeled

One smaller piece of ginger

½ pomegranate, seeded

100-150 ml water

 

Orange is the new black

1 large slice of pumpkin, peeled and cut (around 200-300 gr)

2 oranges, peeled

1 lemon, peeled

1 mandarin, peeled

1 red pepper

100-150 ml water

 

Directions (same for both):

Put the fruit, veggies and spices in the juicer. Add the water to the juice and mix.
