6 THINGS YOU ARE MISSING IN YOUR SMOOTHIES.

Starting your morning with a smoothie is an easy way to get a big portion of your nutrients for the day. 50% fruit and 50% veg is the best way – and here is some ingredients you can put in your smoothies to give yourself an extra boost!

 

Goji Berries

 

These gems include beta-carotene which helps make your skin radiant. Not only this, but they are also known to help develop your immune system. These have increased in popularity recently and you can find them in mainstream supermarkets. I usually add these into my smoothies once blended for a bit of bite!

 

Matcha Powder

 

We all know the benefits of drinking green tea but with matcha you actually ingest 100% of nutrients in the leaf. Matcha has 137 times more antioxidants than standard green tea (wow.) so adding a teaspoon to your smoothies is so beneficial. It has an enquired taste but this can be easily masked with strong flavoured ingredients such as pineapple or mango.

 

Coconut Oil

 

Another buzz word of the health industry …..But not without reason – seriously, it’s amazing. It is full of good fats and is actually useful for weight loss! It is easy to digest and is known to increase metabolism. Coconut oil is also antimicrobial and helps you absorb nutrients more easily.

 

Green Qi 

 

This is such a great ingredient to start your morning and easiest way to eat your greens, the best colour to put in your body of course! Cacao is for all the chocolate lovers out there. Put it in your smoothie for a rich taste (I love it with coconut milk and raspberries) A one ounce serving of cacao nibs has 64 milligrams of magnesium. Magnesium regulates your blood pressure and helps with muscle and nerve function!
